Risk Assessments in Plain English

Edward Technology performs security risk assessments for businesses with 10 to 75 employees. You get a ranked, plain-English report of what is exposed and what to fix first, built for owners rather than auditors.

What we examine

Identities and passwords. Multi-factor authentication coverage, including the accounts everyone forgot. Device health in Intune. Microsoft 365 settings that attackers love, like external sharing and mail-forwarding rules quietly siphoning email. Network equipment and its firmware. Backups, and whether they are isolated from everyday credentials. We look at what attackers actually use, not a 200-item checklist nobody reads.

What you receive

A short written report. Findings ranked by real risk, in plain English instead of scanner jargon. A fix list with effort levels, so quick wins are separated from projects. A walkthrough meeting where every question gets answered. No 200-page PDF designed to frighten you into a contract.

Why assessments come first

Buying security tools before assessing is spending blind. The assessment tells you where the actual gaps are, so money goes where it matters, whether that is Managed EDR, tighter Microsoft 365 settings, or user habits. It is also the fastest way to answer a cyber insurance application honestly.

Assessment versus penetration test

An assessment reviews your defenses from the inside, with full access. A penetration test attacks from the outside to prove what is reachable. Most businesses need the assessment first; testing earns its keep after the obvious gaps close.

HIPAA-ready when needed

For medical and dental practices, the assessment maps to HIPAA risk-analysis requirements, the document auditors ask for first. See our HIPAA Compliance page for the full program.

How disruptive is the assessment to my team?

Barely. Most of the review happens remotely and through administrative access. The onsite portion is a walkthrough, not a shutdown. Your team keeps working.

Do we need an assessment if nothing has gone wrong yet?

That is the best time. Assessments exist to keep it that way, and insurers increasingly expect one before they quote you. After an incident, the same review happens anyway, under worse conditions.

Will you just try to sell us things afterward?

The report ranks what matters and what can wait. Some findings cost nothing to fix, like settings and habits. Where a fix does involve us, it is because the gap is real, and the report shows why.
